Meursault
Discover the Meursault wine appellation
Meursault is a city in Burgundy, surrounded from all parts by Volnay, Monthélie, Auxey-Duresses and Puligny-Montrachet. These communes have some of the very best terroirs you’ll find in the Côte de Beaune, especially since they benefit from a fertile marl soil. Although Meursault is considered to be a top tier white wine, capable of elevating the Chardonnay, there are also red Meursault wines.
The AOC represents 385 hectares of vineyard, growing at different altitudes, between 230 and 360 meters high. Many climates can add their own names to the Meursault appellation, and some of them can even boast a Premier Cru classification. In total, Meursault can produce up to 19,000 hectoliters of wine (red and white) each year.
