Pommard

Pleasure Wine: Pommard Wines

Discover the Pommard appellation

The Pommard AOC is produced in a vineyard that is close to the one found in Volnay, in the center of the Côte de Beaune. Its area of production is 320 hectares, divided on two sides of a small hill. The landscape organized itself around the hillside, itself split in two by the Grande-Combe commune. Here, the soils are made of marls and limestone. A perfect blend that can limit erosion and improve viticulture. The vineyard can produce up to 13,000 liters of red wine.

The terroir is limited to this Burgundy village and its vineyard, located at 280 meters of altitude on the hillside. There are no Grands Crus wines in Pommard, but 28 Premiers Crus grow in the middle of the hill, on clay and limestone soils. Some of these have acquired a stellar reputation, such as the Rugiens, the Pézerolles and the Épenots.
